Our Story
We are a family born and bred in Sri Lanka with deep-rooted connections. We eat, sleep, and breathe Sri Lankan. It is where our ancestors grew up, who taught us to treat guests as royalty. Generations later, we are empowered with the discipline and commitment, do business ethically and sustainably.
Priyantha gave up more than three decades of successfully managing multi-million-dollar travel businesses in Canada, Sri Lanka and several countries around the world. His passion for the travel profession enabled him to learn the intricacies of creating unique travel experiences around the world and influenced our ethos of experiential and sustainable travel; Pinky retired from her lifelong work in teaching and healthcare – only to pursue their dream of talking to people about Sri Lanka.
“Ayubowan Sri Lanka was born out of this love for our first home, our motherland. It was our turn to give back to the land of our birth. Sri Lanka needed us, and we stepped up. By offering uniquely different trips, we wanted to share the legacy of true Sri Lankan hospitality with the world. After all, growing up there, who could be better suited to convey the experience? Locals know their country best.

Our founders have been globetrotting for 40+ years. Priyantha spent his entire work life as a travel personality and has visited more than 100 countries (and counting), actively engaging work in various disciplines within the industry. On most occasions, Pinky and their son Sal have been an integral part of their worldly adventures. Together, they strongly desire to explore new places and experience different cultures, often engaging in activities like hiking or cultural immersion. Their professional ambition with Ayubowan Sri Lanka is one of profound love for their country of birth, to use their lengthy experience in the business to open doors for the like-minded, and change the way travelers think about Sri Lanka, and experience the island with an open mind.
